actually, i think this video is pretty old, could this be anywhere near my mom's teenage years? lol.
anyway here are some of my tips in learning japanese (or any other language in particular)
1. before memorizing vocabulary, know the grammar rules first then build your vocabulary as you go along.
2. try to learn at least one new word per day and use it till you get used to it no matter how silly it sounds.
3. they say you only need to know, 1000 words to be able to converse in another language. now, what are you waiting for? you only have 800 words left to learn.
4. keep a notebook and try to write in that new language so you get to practice.
5. watch dvds or videos in that language to get the familiarity of the tones, and the use of words on a daily basis.
6. try not to translate everything word for word as it loses the meaning in translation.
7. talk to children or watch cartoons. if the little children could understand you, most likely you're doing pretty good.
8. read books or magazines everyday.
9. talk in the said language all the time to get used to it.
10. read words to yourself outloud so that you'll get used to hearing them and therefore you'd recognize them immediately when someone speaks to you.
